This was day 10 of our cruise. We weren't sure what to expect when arriving to the Canary Islands but when we walked outside while coming into the port we were in awe of the mountain views. Our ship made port in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (southeast side). We scheduled a last minute shore excursion and we were happy that we did. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and is located 180 miles from the coast of Africa. Our tour took us to the North in Orotova Valley and Puerto de la Cruz. The weather was cloudy and a little cool but later in the day the clouds parted and the sun came out. Still very nice temperature, not hot at all. Because of the clouds early in the day we didn't get to see Mt. Teide which is the highest mountain in all of Spain. More images click HERE.
The picture below is actually a view of the island as we were leaving port. Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Auditorio de Tenerife

Our tour guide said that these two buildings are named after the Twin Towers in New York.

Can't miss our ship in the background!

Beautiful historic streets with cobble stone.

He was wishing that he had brought his swim trunks so he could swim here.
